Delvoye

March 21st, 2007

Wim DelvoyeThis is THE fashion accessory for this summer! It will be all over Paris and Milan.
Ok, not. It’s only a stuffed tattooed pig by the Belgian artist Wim Delvoye. He did tattoo some alive pigs some years ago in China where the animal rights aren’t that strict as in Europe.

eye-project

Yugo Nakamura and his team developed the eye-project website for the Japanese telecom company KDDI. It looks quite similar to the Experience Uniqlo Explorer but this time it’s all about user-generated content. Yay!
They developed a server-side video generating system to which the users can upload videos, photos or capture webcam input. The outcome is a video-pixel-style content browser. You have to love those sounds on Japanese websites.

Running the Numbers

March 16th, 2007

Running the Numbers, an American Self-Portrait, is the latest project by the artist Chris Jordan. In this series of photographs he visualizes some statistics like the amount of office paper used in the US every 5 minutes (15 million sheets). Or like in this picture, the 60 000 plastic bags used in the US every 5 seconds. Go to his website to see details of this and other pictures!

Tribute Patchwork

March 15th, 2007

Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork BagMy girlfriends birthday is coming up so I started the quest for the ultimate birthday gift. I guess she won’t get this Louis Vuitton Tribute Patchwork Bag, it’s price tag is quite hefty … $42,000. Marc Jacobs probably thought, let’s cut up some leftovers from the previous seasons, stitch them back together et voila … $42,000. Ingenius!
Maison Martin Margiela does the same much better.
