Pork and Beans

This is what you would call the ultimate viral music video: Pork and Beans by Weezer. Over 1,000,000 views after just one day, that’s not bad at all.

Sorry but it’s probably because I’m from another generation (!?#%$!) but can you tell me what is meant by viral here! I’d be very thankful for a clarification. By the way, I’ve enjoyed the video, it’s fun and the music is good.

Viral means that it spreads really fast by itself. If one million people watch a video in 24 hours without a classic advertising campaign (print or TV), you may call it a viral clip and a success too. A lot of advertisers thinks this is a cheap and easy way to reach their audience without spending money for a print and or TV campaign. In this music video, there are a lot of references to popular online clips, which made the video viral itself.
