56 Kleine Helicopter – The Video

February 9th, 2009

2 months ago the German TV show Titel Thesen Temperamente had a short special on Roman Signer, one of my most favorite artists. I’ve been looking for the recording of that TV show because it shows 56 Kleine Helicopter, a new video artwork by Roman, which was my first post of 2009. So if you want to see 56 Kleine Helicopter, you can skip forward to 4:28. But if you can stand some German, than you see more of his works. I can recommend it!

This quote comes from the book “Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance” written by Barack Obama, indeed that Obama, but it is actually from a school friend. He wrote his memoirs back in 1995 and the audio book read by Obama himself was released in 2005. He even received a Grammy Award for Best Spoken Word Album in 2006 for it. There are some more interesting quotes available like “You ain’t my bitch, nigga”, listen to them here. This screams to become the next internet meme!

And here is the first remix:

The Zodiac Race

February 5th, 2009

“The Zodiac Race” is an animated film which is a part of the “Cycle of Life” campaign for Onitsuka Tiger‘s 60th birthday. It tells the legend of the Zodiac Race: 13 animals raced each other for one of the 12 spots in the Zodiac calender. The race takes place on an island shaped like an Onitsuka Tiger sneaker, which features many Japanese landmarks. The landscape doesn’t just exist as a 3D world, it is actually based on a real 1 meter big model. The excellent animation work was done by PandaPanther, the campaign was developed by Amsterdam Worldwide.
