“Selective Insulation” is a project by the architects Davidson Rafailidis. They developed this small study as a room in a room, which is in a big difficult to heat, old school building. The shape is defined by a few parameters: the daylight conditions, 2 people need a minimum of 4m² desk-related office space and they wanted to have desk, a window and a way to enter/exit. The whole framework is quite simple and wrapped with an insulating layer of double-ply bubblewrap.
“Tunnel Vision” is a new sculpture by Jen Stark. This one is quite different than her other colorfull paper cuts, it is actually a kaleidoscope. I also didn’t know that she made 2 stop motion animations: “Streaming Gradient” and “Papermation“. You should watch them too.
You can go and see it at her exhibition at LMAK projects in New York till June 21th.
These Hammerlamps, designed by Rupert Kopp, are CNC milled from solid aluminium. I’m quite curious to see them next week at SUN DAYS during DMY Berlin, I have no idea how big or small they actually are.
The music video for “I Will Glam” by Pedro Marín is the first one ever that you can view on teletext. Actually you can only see it on channel four in Spain, between May 18th and May 29th between 21.00 and 23.00, on page 899. Great Works are the creatives behind this. You can find some more background information here.
By the way, I turned off the volume very quickly after the video started, just to warn you.
Here are 3 photos form “Car Crash Studies” by Nicolai Howalt. They are actually a little disturbing but beautiful at the same time. I don’t think that those wrecks are staged.
There is not much to say about this photo by Tim Walker. I just like it. You can find it in the current spring catalog of Hermès.
EDIT 30.06.2009 14:32
Some commenters pointed out that Tim Walker might have been inspired by the work of Philippe Ramette. To be more precise, by this photo called Balcon II (Hong-Kong),2001.
Come on creatives, I’m still waiting to see this typical animated GIF aesthetics to be used in some commercial work. You know that you can’t do another augmented reality thingy anymore.
“The Slow Inevitable Death of American Muscle” by Jonathan Schipper is a machine that advances two full sized automobiles slowly into one another over a period of 6 days, simulating a head on automobile collision. You can see 2 timelapse videos here.
