Selective Insulation
May 29th, 2009“Selective Insulation” is a project by the architects Davidson Rafailidis. They developed this small study as a room in a room, which is in a big difficult to heat, old school building. The shape is defined by a few parameters: the daylight conditions, 2 people need a minimum of 4m² desk-related office space and they wanted to have desk, a window and a way to enter/exit. The whole framework is quite simple and wrapped with an insulating layer of double-ply bubblewrap.

The bubble wrap looks great, actually, the only problem seems to be that the radiators are outside of the enclosed area…

This idea, is like what we are achieving with our new study, we have a warehouse too big, so we are building a glass greenhouse inside, for a smaller volume to heat or cool.
When will be ready, wy’ll you send photos.
