Cannes Cyber Lion Grand Prix 2009
June 25th, 2009Tonight was the award show of the Cannes Cyber Lions 2009, one of the most well-known awards in the advertising industry. This years winner of the Grand Prix was Fiat eco:Drive by the agency AKQA London.
Fiat eco:Drive is system that is very similar to Nike+. When you plugin in an USB stick in to your Fiat, all the data of your drive will be saved on it. Back at home, you can upload that data to a small piece of software that analyses and visualizes it. Then you’ll get tips how to drive more efficient and save fuel to be more eco friendlier. Etc etc … I just love projects like this one, an excellet combination of the online and offline world.
All the other winners of the Cyber Lions will be online in the morning.
If you want to know more about this, then you should watch this video where Adobe talks to Fiat and the agency about the whole process.
Lake of Shimmer
June 24th, 2009“Lake of Shimmer” is the title of this installation at the Swarovski stand at Baselworld 2009, the largest watch fair in the world. Tokujin Yoshioka designed a wall, measuring 9 by 8 meters, with 16000 octagon shaped mirrors. A computer can control the angle of each of those mirrors, so it was possible to display simple animations resembling the reflections on a lake.
If you like this one, you might want to have a look at Daniel Rozin’s Mirrors Mirror.
Update 24/06/2009 16:30:
The Tokujin Yoshioka office and I had some different opinions before, but that’s all settled now.
Enjoy watching this video.

Dancing Living House
June 24th, 2009This house isn’t architecture anymore … it’s a sculpture. The Dancing Living House was designed by Junichi Sampei and offers enough space for a small family and a dance studio. You can even park a car under it.
I can’t wait to see some interior shots! What We Do Is Secret just posted some interior shots here and here.

Encastrable
June 24th, 2009Encastrable is French collective which does guerrilla interventions at gardening and DIY megastores in the Paris area. They just use the materials available in the stores for their temporary installations and sculptures. They didn’t ask for permission so it was only a matter of time till the employees cleaned up behind them.
