Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal Fall 2009
July 9th, 2009Maison Martin Margiela killed it again with its Artisanal Fall 2009 collection. They must have a big laugh at everyone who take the whole fashion circus too seriously. Their message to the normal people is probably DIY, just go to your local hardware store, buy anything and wear it.

kind of rude of you to say that fashion week is a circus people take too seriously
margiela artisanal is beginning to become stale. how many fringe capes can you make out of outlandish materials before it becomes redundant.

It seems the creativity is dying. He certainly is the most talented than most designers out there.
Such a shame.

@mike
why was it rude of me?
For people who are not part of the so called fashion industry, those fashion weeks are a circus.
You can find almost as much photos of the (famous) visitors of the fashion shows as from the shows themselves.
etc etc

i just think, its a few weeks where all these artists from around the world show of their hard work and talent, and its just kind of demeaning to call it a circus

@mike
I’m not talking about the designers and their work, but everything and everyone that comes with it.

[...] know that I posted this new Maison Martin Margiela Artisanal collection 2 weeks ago, but Diane Pernet posted some new images on her blog. This time the pieces are in black, white and [...]

@Gene
For the sake of clarity, it looks to me that the middle garment is made mostly from elastic bungee cords. I’m not sure what bicycle straps are, so forgive me if my reply is redundant on account of misunderstanding.

While I appreciate fashion as an art form, it is perhaps more insightful to acknowledge the whole system that “Fashion as Art” exists within. It’s a billion dollar business—overflowing with geniuses and devilishly tough critics—it’s all part of the circus.
