The Electronic Ruler designed by Shay Shafranek and Oded Webman can do a lot more than your average one. It can measure the length of each line you draw no matter where you start. But it can also measure the distance between 2 points, add the value of different lines and change its scale.

Illinois: Visualizing Music is a project by graphic designer Jax de Léon, he analyzed the ablum Illinois by Sufjan Stevens in 9 different ways and visualised his findings. The Vocal Album Grid is one of them.
Each square on the grid represents one second of the entire album. Each row makes up one minute and adds up to 1 hour, 14 minutes and 13 seconds. Colored squares indicate the subject of the lyrics being sung during each second, while gray squares indicate when there are only instrumentals and no lyrics are being sung. Multiple voices sung simultaneously are indicated by splitting up the square into sections. Other marks indicate back-up singers and non-word vocals such as “ooh” and “ahh.” Note: All information is approximate.

“Self-Portrait Machine” by Jen-Hui Liao (his website isn’t online yet) is a really cool drawing machine. The user places himself in front of the machine and a camera will take his portrait. Now he has to wrap his wrists to the machine while holding 2 markers. The machine will analyze the picture and translate it into mechanical movements to guide the hands of the user to make the drawing.
You can go and see it at the Royal College of Art SHOW 2009 in London till this Sunday.

Here are a few result made by the man/machine.

E99500 is an orange color in hexadecimal color codes, but it’s also the title of this video by Hugo Arcier, a French director and 3D artist. He also has another portfolio with some very weird 3D work.
