[...] (todayandtomorrow.net) [Sept. 4th] was the official start of the construction of the new Dutch Filmmuseum in Amsterdam. The new building was designed by Delugan Meissl Associated Architects and will be ready by the end of 2011. To celebrate this event, Wieden+Kennedy Amsterdam and Theo Watson developed an augmented sand sculpture. It’s a 5 by 6 meters large scale model of the new building made with a material available at the construction site … sand. [...]

You may not compare this to augmented reality.
If it wasn’t for the projections, the sand model would just look like a grey/brown blob. It would be much harder to recognise the final design.
So I think that the projects do augment the sand model of the building.

Love Dulgan’s work and have visited some of their buildings… I’m struggling to see how this is Augmented? Its a sand sculpture of the building with projections?
