Katie Paterson recorded the sound of 3 glaciers (Langjökull, Snæfellsjökull and Solheimajökull) on Iceland. She then pressed those recordings on ice record made of melt water from those glaciers. The records were played on 3 turntables and it took almost 2 hours till they were completely melted. You can listen to one here.

Decode: Digital Design Sensations is an upcoming exhibition at Victoria and Albert Museum in London. The exhibition will show the latest developments in digital and interactive design, from small screen based graphics to large-scale installations. The exhibition will explore three themes: Code as a Raw Material, Interactivity and The Network. You will be able to see work by Daniel Brown, Golan Levin, Daniel Rozin, Simon Heijdens, Trioka, Robert Hodgin, … I guess it’s quite clear that I’ll have to go to London between 8 December 2009 and 11 April 2010. But till then I’ll keep myself busy with the opensource digital identity of the exhibition created by Karsten Schmidt. You can download it here and start playing with it. If you submit your version of the identity, it’s possible that it will appear on the digital screens of the London Underground.
The Flat Project is a collaboration between Jo Nagasaka and Shuhei Nakamura. They used translucent color epoxy on uneven surfaces to create these Flat Tables. The color of the surfaces are dependent on the depth of the epoxy layer. The flattening creates a diversity in color. You can go and see these table at happa inTokyo till December 19th.
I’m just back from the last Moderat concert ever (we’ll see about that). Moderat is/was the band project of Modeselektor and Apparat. The opening track, A new Error, of their first and last album is THE track of 2009.
