Scan Processor Studies

November 24th, 2009

“Scan Processor Studies” is the result of a collaboration between Woody Vasulka & Brian O’Reilly. They made the footage for this film with a Rutt-Etra Scan Processor in the 1970′s and manipulated it some more afterwards. It’s actually quite hard to describe it, but it’s full with beautiful shapes and patterns.

I recently got to see Woody and his wife present and talk about this work at the Nelson Atkins Museum of Art, they are really quite fascinating people, and still making video work. I believe the original footage on the top video is of some sheep which of course was run through the scan processor
