Folded Paper
May 17th, 2010I’ve just rediscovered the amazing paper art by Simon Schubert. It’s not really clear if he really folds the paper or if he rubs the lines into the paper. Anyway, amazing work!
Some of these pieces are more abstract than his previous work.
“boat”

“plain with figure”

“house on a plain”

“corridor with wave motion”

“long corridor”

Amazing! Is there any video of him creating a piece? I’dd love to see how he does this.

By looking at the boat piece (the tight curls in the waves), it is clear that he rubs lines into the paper or embosses it.
Still, it’s some pretty amazing work.

Check the recent issue of Architectural Digest. There is an insert of the Spiegelberger Stiftung with an exclusive edition from Simon Schubert. Dope!
