It’s been a while since I saw a sneaker that got me interested, but my next pair will be the Solebox adidas Berlin. They’re part of the adidas Consortium City Series and I guess adidas didn’t really had a hard time to come up with a Berlin partner for their adidas Berlin model. The Solebox brothers did a great job with the design, details like their birthdays and the original colorway on the inside give the sneaker the real Solebox touch.

Over a year ago I recommended you this website called berlin.unlike. When I’m asked to describe it, it would be something like this: “the definitive city guide for the mobile generation”. Exactly like they describe themselves.
It’s quite impressive to see how they evolved over the last months. They added 10 other cities to their service like Barcelona, London and Paris. You can now buy iPhone apps for each city or one for all of them; they support offline browsing and a future feature will be offline maps. For those of you who don’t want to spend their time planning their trip, they even sell packages with all kinds of activities, guides and tours.
But today I received the login data for the club.unlike beta. When you’re logged in you can create your own custom tours, import your travel plans from other services, share everything with everything and you’ll get some extras at certain locations. So here is my tour: berlin by today and tomorrow. You can even download it as a PDF. The only critique I have, is the fact that you can’t add a location which is not in the unlike system.
Don’t forget this is a closed beta and there’s still some room for optimizations, but if you’re interested: sign up!

Yesterday evening was the Berlin edition of the adidas House Party to celebrate the 60th birthday of adidas. It took place at the adidas No 74 Concept store. The shop was completly redecorated to fit the house party theme. There was no bar where you could get a drink, you just had to go to kitchen and fix yourself a drink. There were also regular pizza deliveries. It felt like a real house party. Of course the music was top notch too. It was a blast.
Besides the party, adidas organized a special sale yesterday. They sold 2500 pair of adidas Consortiums and adidas Originals sneakers for the amazing price of 20 euros a pair. This offer drew a huge crowd, but it went down in orderly way, you were only allowed to buy 3 pairs. The sales started at noon but there were still people waiting in line till very late in the evening.
I can only hope that this was just the start of adidas 60th birthday celebrations!

This is probably one of the weirdest art performances I have ever seen: Land Reform carousel.

Eight BMWs, the sponsor of the bb05, drive in a slow perfect circle on one of the lots of Skulpturenpark in Berlin. “This Land Is Your Land” plays on their radios. From outside, the song is heard as a melodic and muffled chorus. The circling cars create an image recalling a shiny auto display, a western wagon train, or an amusement carousel. Every few rounds the cars stop to pick-up and drop-off anyone who wants to go on its circular ride.

In Landreform, the banality of economic determinism drives in a circle around itself upon a ground which will soon be developed with luxury condos and office buildings. People are asked to join the ride. As sung by Guthrie, the land of Skulpturenpark is made for you and me.

Today I finally had the time to visit the new adidas concept store No.74 in Berlin. Its name is quite self explanatory … its location is in the Torstrasse 74. At the moment they only have the adidas Y-3 spring summer collection, in May and June they will have selection of adidas Originals. From July on, they will have a wider product range with limited editions and special items related to Berlin. You may also expect a China like market shop interior in the coming months, hence the olympics. Definitely a new spot on my Berlin tour.

For those of you who want to come and visit Berlin there is this new website called berlin.unlike. You can find addresses of bars, shops, clubs, … etc, but also events; it’s an ongoing collection of course. You can add all this info to your own tour. It’s dead simple, you don’t have to register, you can start right away with adding the things you want to visit. Your tour will get it’s own unique id, you may not forget to bookmark it when you want to add anything later (go to your tour and click on settings on the right). You can share your tour with anyone and browse it on your mobile phone, hé it’s hooked up with google maps. Here is mine. Very neat!

Erika and Rolf Hoffmann started to collect art back in 1968; although she says that they didn’t decided to do so, it just happend over the years. They moved to East Berlin in 1995 and opened their private home to the public in 1997. The appartment is over 1800 m² and is spread over 3 floors in an old sewing-machine factory. The photo shows the living room, most rooms look more like a normal gallery though. You can visit a part of the collection by appointment on Saturdays.
