April 17th, 2009

Here are another 2 sofas which will be revealed in Milan next week: Cushion and Draped, designed by Front for Moroso. I’m not sure if these photos are some sort of concept prototypes or if they are the final product. But Im definitely curious to see some more pictures next week.

Quilt sofa

April 17th, 2009

The Milan furniture fair previews are filling up my inbox. Once again, I won’t go, but maybe next year. Anyway, this sofa called Quilt by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec looks quite nice. Ofcourse it is almost impossible to beat their own Facett sofa collection.

Prototyping Processes for Industrial Designers

April 14th, 2009

“Prototyping Processes for Industrial Designers” is a short movie by Karl Frankowski. It shows you 4 different techniques: Foam Models, Fused Deposition Modeling, Stereolithography Apparatus and Rapid Prototyping/Bridge Tooling. Don’t expect any narration, just 4 charts explaining the use of each. This is a pure industrial designers pr0n movie.

Blown Fabric by Nendo

April 8th, 2009

“Blown Fabric” is collection of lamps designed by Nendo. They used the material Smash, a long-fibre non-woven polyester, which you can shape in almost any form when heated. The production technique is very similar to blown glass. That’s why they’ve used LED bulbs to make sure that the lampshades don’t collapse.
This will be on display during the Milan furniture fair at the Tokyo Fiber ’09 Senseware exhibition.
