You Fade To Light by rAndom international

April 24th, 2009

rAndom international was asked by Philips Electronics’ Lumiblade to create an interactive installation that unlocks the creative potential of their next generation OLED technology. They were inspired by the beautiful mirror finish quality of the individual OLED modules, so the result is an ultra thin interactive mirror light wall. Not like we haven’t seen anything like that before, but still very nice and really thin.

Maison Martin Margiela - Mat, Satiné, Brillant

April 24th, 2009

“Mat, Satiné, Brillant” is the title of the Maison Martin Margiela installation in Milan. It is the introduction of the Maison Martin Margiela furniture collection and interior design and architecture services. The installation is an exact reproduction of the Interior Design workshop of the Paris Headquarters, where all stores, showrooms, and architectural projects are conceived.
I think most of it is very average. The trompe l’oeil doors, the table made of many trestles and the shelves made of brackets (in the second photo) are the best items.

Coral lamp by Studio Aisslinger

April 23rd, 2009

The Coral lamp by Studio Aisslinger is made of hexagonal felt submodules. It should remind you of a sea life coral structure, but I say it could be a honeycomb too. Sspecially in yellow.

Nicht Klotzen, Sondern Kleckern

April 23rd, 2009

“Nicht Kleckern, Sondern Klotzen” is a German saying which means doing things in a big way. The title of this photo series is “Nicht klotzen, sondern kleckern”, they switched the place of 2 words. Kleckern means to make a mess, and that’s what Sarah Illenberger did with different kind of blenders, Attila Hartwig made the photos.

Citroën Karin

April 23rd, 2009

I’m a little disappointed with car design lately, I haven’t seen anything new that I found interesting. Why don’t we see anything like the Citroën Karin, a concept car designed by Trevor Fiore in 1980, anymore? Just keep it simple.

This photo of Gemma Ward trimming her fake eyelashes is somehow fascinating. I can’t explain why.

Blow Away vase by Front

April 22nd, 2009

The girls of Front digitised a Royal Delft vase and added some parameters to the material in the 3D software. It was then exposed to a simulated gust of wind. This is really a typical Front project.
The Blow Away vase is available from Moooi.
