Emilio Gomariz made a font by just arranging 114 Photoshop files. Each letter is composed by different files, from 1 file for I till 9 files for X. OS X has this feature where it remembers the position of window after minimizing and bringing it back to the front. Emilio used this to make this video of the 114.psd Type. Brilliant!

I guess it won’t take long anymore till USB sticks will become disposable, maybe they even are already. The Russian design studio Art. Lebedev already designed one: Flashkus. It’s made of cardboard so can write directly on it. I like them.

Clement Valla asked 500 Amazon’s Mechanical Turk users to trace a line. The first user started with a straight line, the next user had to trace the previous user’s trace. I guess it’s no surprise that the last trace doesn’t remind you about the initial straight line. The result is “A Sequence of Lines Consecutively Traced by Five Hundred Individuals”. The cool thing about this is the fact that Clement only payed $0.02 for every trace, so it has only cost him $10.

Movement of a Moment by Jesper Jonsson is a dynamic light concept that shows traces of time. You can say that it’s a clock or that it’s a light. The hands of the clock are in the back and cast a shadow. It’s probably not the easiest clock to read, nonetheless it’s a very nice idea.

Joel Holmberg is DJ Filetype SWF, which means that he mixes the background music from websites by surfing from one to another. I guess this is the best online DJ idea ever. You can watch and listen to his mix here.

BNPJ.exe is an exhibition that you can download. It’s actually a piece of software created by Jon Rafman and Tabor Robak, for the Extra Extra Gallery. You can explore a 3d game-like environment which is textured with classic paintings. It’s not that easy to get from one “level” to another, especially the first one is quite hard. In the end I got stuck on the bottom of a well. How far did you get?

Last Friday I had the chance to see Daito Manabe perform with his Face Visualizer live during the Transmediale festival in Berlin. The Face Visualizer is a tool which lets people’s faces move artificially in sync with music through electroshocks produced with the Max/MSP programming platform. I’m pretty sure you’ve seen the videos of his first tests like these ones here.
He performed together with Ei Wada, who definitely was quite surprised by some of the electroshocks.

The day before the performance, Daito held a presentation of his work at the agency I work for. Not only was he kind enough to do so, he also brought me a present: my own Pa++ern t-shirt. Pa++ern is a project he did together with Motoi Ishibashi, it was basically an embroidery machine connected to twitter.
