Can’t Tell Me Nothin’

Zach Galifianakis

Zach Galifianakis, a comedian, made an alternative music video for Kanye West’s song ‘Can’t Tell Me Nothin’. It actually way better than the original, fortunately Kanye was cool about it and posted it on his website. Go and watch it at Kanyes site (flash video) or here (quicktime)!

EDIT: Kanye West actually asked Zach Galifianakis to lip sync his video.

When my smoke hit your face

When my smoke hit your faceThis graphic is part of a good manners campaign in Japan. There are many like this one in this gallery. It isn’t done by an anti smoking lobby, but by Japan Tobacco.
The English translation sounds odd right, why the past tense?

FAC51-Y3

FAC51-Y3

This is the FAC51-Y3, it’s not just an other adidas Y-3 sneaker, this one has real story behind it. Adidas Y-3 is opening a store in Manchester and to celebrate that event they teamed up with The Haçienda, Manchester’s most legendary club which is having its 25th anniversary. The FAC51-Y3 is not really my kind of sneaker, Y-3 has better ones, but I think the design fits the club. The name is just like a record catalog number, FAC51 stands for a record release on Factory Records and Y3 … that’s self-explanatory. The sneaker was a collaboration between Peter Saville, once graphic designer for Factory Records, Ben Kelly, the architect responsible for the interiors of the now legendary club, and Peter Hook, bass player of Joy Division / New Order. The whole package looks amazing, the shoe box resembles the shape of the club’s dancefloor. Of course this is a strictly limited release, only 250 pairs will be available. You’ll have to cough up €500 if you want to lay your hands on these.
I have praised the Y-3 website before, the 360° feature is so well executed! It’s so much fun browsing that I’ve just found a new must have, that Hodded blouson.

The Making Of Star Guitar

July 25th, 2007

I have always been puzzled by the music video for ‘Star Guitar’ by the Chemical Brothers. How did they do that? The visual effect is just stunning. If you don’t remember how it went, check it here at YouTube.
In the video above, you can see Michel Gondry, the director, mocking up that video. Unfortunately, it doesn’t show how the video editing was done. Back in the days, I used the same technique, visualizing music on paper, for a project at the university. And guess what, I also won an award with it, so visualizing music on paper is a guarantee to get an award …

Shimmer

Shimmer by Joakim Oscarsson

Shimmer is a wall sculpture / radiator that brings you a visual experience to recall memories of hot summer days and the way the air sometimes tend to shimmer of heat.

The sculptural surface at the front of the radiator is made as an optical wave pattern. After watching a while, the pattern starts to float and an optical shimmering effect will appear.

Here are some radiators that I have posted before.

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 AMG

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 AMG

I’m totally not a Mercedes guy, if I had to choose between a Mercedes and an other car, I would take the other car. Actually I’m more into Italian cars, I’m so easily to seduce with good looks, like an Alfa Romeo GTA or any other 60′s Alfa designed by Bertone
Anyway, I could make an exception for this 300SEL 6.3 tuned by AMG to an 6.8 motor. What a beast!
If you know some Italian, you can read some more on it here.
