If you’re into pixel art you’ve probably heard of eBoy, they create the most amazing pixels worlds. Together with Delicious Toys they’ve developed a very nice iPhone/iPod Touch game called FixPix. It doesn’t have a revolutionary gameplay, they’ve sliced up their artwork into different layers and you have to put them back together by tilting you iPhone. Unfortenatly the app isn’t available yet, but this preview video made by Filip of CreativeApplications will give you a good idea what to expect.
If you have an apple computer and a webcam, then you’ve probably played around with Photo Booth. It’s so much fun! Mark Pernice made a picture of himself with Photo Booth and turned it into a mask. The result is awesome. He actually made the mask to make a new picture with Photo Booth while wearing it. He’ll used that picture for a self promotional poster.
Kitty is a computer animation made by a group of russian physicists and mathematicians in 1968. They created a model of cat with a BESM-4 computer and were able to animate it. The result was printed out using alphabet symbols and then converted to the cinefilm.
This is a graphical representation of the score of Beethoven’s 5th Symphony (No. 5, allegro). Each color respresents one music instrument. You can find more of these videos in Stephen Malin his YouTube account and find more information on the Music Animation Machine website. Very impressive!

The first beta of Rhonda just came out a few hours ago and it’s exactly like expected, very cool. If you don’t remember what Rhonda is all about, you might want to read this. Here is a video where Zach Lieberman demos a few of the features.
I tried it out too, but my non existent drawing skills and trackpad didn’t really help.
555 KUBIK was the title of a facade video projection at the Kunsthalle in Hamburg (Germany), taking place last May. The idea behind it was: “How it would be, if a house was dreaming”. Daniel Rossa was responsible for the art direction and decided to use some visualisations of the inside of the building together with other animations. The facade isn’t that exciting itself, but the projection takes it to a new level.
Maybe you remember the facade projection “Augmented Space” by Pablo Valbuena, which he did in The Hague (The Netherlands) last year. It’s very similar, but the animation is much more reduced. And I think the building in The Hague is actually more interesting. You can see some videos here.
But you should watch the 555 KUBIK video first.
Rhonda is a 3D drawing tool like no other, the first when I saw it a few years ago I was immediately blown away. Amit Pitaru developed this amazing piece of software around 2003. Around that time he was collaborating with James Paterson, their project was called InsertSilince. In this video you can see James drawing using Rhonda with his unique style.
So it’s very nice to hear that the development of Rhonda will continue with the help of Zach Lieberman (openFrameworks) and Zach Gage (synthpond).
The music video for “I Will Glam” by Pedro Marín is the first one ever that you can view on teletext. Actually you can only see it on channel four in Spain, between May 18th and May 29th between 21.00 and 23.00, on page 899. Great Works are the creatives behind this. You can find some more background information here.
By the way, I turned off the volume very quickly after the video started, just to warn you.
