UK Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010

May 4th, 2010

I’ve been holding off for a long time to post some photos of the UK Pavilion at the Shanghai World Expo 2010. So here are finally some photos of the finished pavilion, I guess you all know about this master piece designed by Heatherwick Studio by now. If you don’t, ArchDaily has all the info you’ll need.

Apartment in Katayama

April 21st, 2010

This apartment building designed by Mitsutomo Matsunami looks stunning! The fact that the houses next doors only have 2 floors, makes this 7 story high building even more majestic. It’s build on a 110.55m² piece of land and has a total floor of 341.38m². There are 10 apartments in the building, measuring between 23.2m² and 35.7m², which is tiny compared to European ones.

KRE House

March 26th, 2010

The brief for this house was quite simple: “I want a 9 car garage and be able to enjoy viewing one of them in the living room.” Takuya Tsuchida designed exactly such a house, it has an elevator for one car from the garage to the living room. I can totally understand the owner of a Lamborghini Countach Anniversary edition, to make such a request. I guess it’s no surprise that can find this house in Tokyo.

PLUS

January 22nd, 2010

PLUS is the name of the weekend house designed by Mount Fuji Architects Studio. It’s located on the Japanese mountainside of Izu-san and it has an amazing view on the Pacific Ocean. I guess I don’t have to explain why I like this house. They sure used quite a lot of marble.

CSD Architecten

December 23rd, 2009

This is the house of Britt Crepain & Stefan Spaens in the center of Antwerp (Belgium). Together with Joep Debie they form CSD Archtecten, so they designed and build their own home themselves. The footprint of the house is only 50 sqm (4 x 12.5 meters) but the have a basement, ground floor, 4 split-levels and a roof terrace. Brit also designed the kitchen, library, wardrobes etc. They really optimized every room, behind the door in the library there’s a toilet. The rooms, the light, the materials, the interior … when can I move in?

House H by Sou Fujimoto

November 15th, 2009

House H is the latest project by Sou Fujimoto Architects in Tokyo. It’s new experiment to find a balance between volumes, spaces and light. There’re a lot of stairs in this house and I’m also wondering where the bedrooms are. But I wouldn’t mind if Sou would do some projects in Berlin. Here are 2 other projects by Sou Fujimoto: House N and Next Generation House.
