The Swedish creative agency Acne, which is mostly known for its fashion brand, presented its first furniture collection during the Paris fashion week. The started off from a Swedish design classic by Carl Malmsten: the Nya Berlin (New Berlin) Sofa. He designed it for the Swedish consulate in Berlin and hasn’t been in production since 1949. Acne stretched, squashed and pulled the simplistic shape to create new sculptural forms. The designs are of course upholstered with denim which they bleached and hand-dyed. I’m curious to see them in real life.
This is an illustration designed by HORT for the Australian record label Modular. They developed a visual concept for promotional posters, flyers and pamphlets, in this ripped up photo style.
Diesel is the next fashion brand to launch its own furniture line, it definitely fits its claim “Sucessful Living”. They teamed up with 3 brands : Moroso for the furniture, Foscarini for the lightning and Zucchi for the home textiles. You can see some items from the collection in this Wallpaper gallery.
My favorite is this lamp called Rock.
The Artisanal collection by Maison Martin Margiela is one of the few fashion things I’m interested in. The collection is just a few pieces made by hand, one of one. The garments are always made of unusual materials. Here are few picks from the current collection, you can find the white shoestring dress here.
Paper Towel Tuxedo Jacket by Maison Martin Margiela.
Hair Comb Short Dress by Maison Martin Margiela.
Mask Bolero by Maison Martin Margiela, made of latex hair masks.
Plastic Fur Jacket by Maison Martin Margiela, made of plastic garment label fastenings.
Gluejeans … I always like it when a name is self explanatory. I can’t believe that the seams aren’t stitched but just glued. Apparently they didn’t let me do an extensive user test.
Lee Cooper, the English denim brand, is celebrating its 100th birthday this year. They have many collaborations lined up with some of the world’s most respected designers, celebrities, sporting heroes and iconic brands, including Ora Ito. He’s a French designer who got well known for his Gucci Villa and his Hack-Mac designs.
Lee Cooper not only asked him to design this years logo, but also to do some clothing like this pair of denim and this t-shirt. He describes his style as ‘simplexity’, which you can tell from these designs.
adidas finally released some pictures of its upcoming collaboration with Diesel, which I found out about a month ago. They rebranded some Diesel denim models with some nice adidas details. They should arrive at your local adidas Originals store in some weeks.
