Stained Glass is a project by Posterchild, he does streetart. He placed a variation of the Pixelator over HD screens installed over subway entrances in New York. It basically difusses the light of the screen and turns the video ads in an animated stained glass piece. Blah blah blah … watch the video.
‘The Nature Of Your Oppression Is The Aesthetic Of Our Anger’ by David Lieske. Some of you might know him as Carsten Jost, one of the founding members of the German record label Dial.
‘Passive Aggressive Anger Release Machine’ is an interactive sculpture by Yarisal and Kublitz. Experience the most satisfying feeling when a piece of China breaks into million pieces . All you have to do is insert a coin, and a piece of China will Slowly move forwards and fall into the bottom of the machine, breaking, and leaving you happy and relieved of anger.
Kacper Hamilton designed seven red wine glasses inspired by the seven deadly sins: lust, gluttony, greed, sloth, wrath, envy and pride. The sin is revealed through the ritual of drinking.
‘The Level Tunnel‘ is a project for Level Vodka, designed by Hussein Chalayan. The tunnel a 15 meter long, 5 meter high, glass installation that captures the essence of Level Vodka. Visitors can walk through the tunnel blindfolded or experience it from outside. Chalayan used sound, scent and touch to create something unique. The sound for example, is created by a flute made from a vodka bottle. And when a visitor is going through the tunnel, his position is tracked and he can smell the scent of lemon and cedar as he goes further into the tunnel. When the visitor leaves the tunnel, he can of course taste the vodka. All these senses together should give the visitor an impression of what Level Vodka stands for. It is currently on display in Mexico City but it will travel to Paris and Athens later this year.
My favorites Swedes of Front Design also presented new work this week. This first project is called ‘Shade’, they are hand drawn objects which are materialized like illustrations. I guess you remember their Sketch Furniture project.
‘Randomly Crystallized’ was commissioned by Swarovski for their Crystal Palace. Front Design merged precision-cut crystals with hot liquid crystal to create these unique objects. I find this lamp more interesting than the vases they did.
‘A touch of Green’ is the title of the exhibition by Droog Design in Milan. Here are 2 projects that I picked out:
‘Table Tap’ by Arnout Visser. A simple and funny idea.
‘Massive Infection’ by Pieke Bergmans. She worked together with a glass blower to create these crystal vases who are pressed (still hot) onto the wooden objects and then leave black burned stains. This one of the best things I’ve seen for a while! She has a lot more projects like this one on her website.
