The fashion world found a new playground. Last season, Hussein Chalayan decided not to do a classic catwalk show, but to produce a film together with SHOWstudio, called ‘Readings‘. It was definitely a great way to show off his creations. 2 weeks ago, YSL decided to do the same thing, they replaced the catwalk show for its autumn/winter menswear collection with a film directed by Sarah Chatfield and Chris Sweeney. You can watch it here and read about it at the CR Blog.
Yesterday, Prada took it even a step further and presented ‘Trembled Blossoms’, an animation (I guess they won’t skip the classic show part). They dropped the whole models and shooting part, and replaced it with an illustration / CGI kind of look, quite refreshing if you ask me. You can find it on the Prada homepage.

This graphic is part of a good manners campaign in Japan. There are many like this one in this gallery. It isn’t done by an anti smoking lobby, but by Japan Tobacco.
The English translation sounds odd right, why the past tense?

Beautiful illustrations by Charley Harper. More at the Threadway Gallery website and in this flickr set.
These guys are talented! Stop motion animation with a lightpen! More of them here.
