Self Reflecting Lamp

Self Reflecting Lamp by Oliver Schick. I like it as an object, I’m just wondering how you would exchange the light bulb.

Etirement by Rémi Bouhaniche

July 9th, 2009

Etirement is a light designed by Rémi Bouhaniche. I guess you tell from the image how it works … You can switch the light on by pulling the rod down, the more you pull it down the brighter the light gets.

X, Y and Z

June 11th, 2009

X, Y and Z is a collection of lights designed by Daniel Lorch. It all started when Daniel found a magnetic joint. The form of the lights is influenced by a text about the minimal art of John McCracken, which is about breaking the porportions of the gold section. The industrial look is a homage to the machines used to produce them.

DMY Berlin – PULL & PULL-OVER

June 10th, 2009

PULL and PULL-OVER are lamps designed by e27. Their base is a made of a 2,5 mm thick stainless steel disc which is lasered and then stretched to a height of almost 2 meters. This is very simple but nice production technique!
The only difference between both models is, you’ve guessed it, that the PULL-OVER is covered with a strech fabric. Both are available in 2 smaller sizes too.

DMY Berlin Youngsters 2009 – Modulares Licht

June 4th, 2009

“Modulares Licht” is the diplom thesis of Robert Hoffmann. He made 3 different lights where you can tilt the sidepanels. So you can not only change their shapes but also control the light. Neat.

DMY Berlin Youngsters 2009 – O!Cap

June 3rd, 2009

O!Cap is a silicon lampshade designed by designlab. It is available in 3 different colours, but the catch is that they added different aroma’s to the silicon like lemongrass for example. So when you put one over an energy saving light bulb, the heat of the lamp sets the scent free.
You can go and see/smell them at DMY Berlin Youngsters.

Chiwawa

June 2nd, 2009

Chiwawa by Vincent Olm is quite a simple lamp, he added just a laser-cut metal ring to a standard bulb holder. I really don’t like the name though.

Hammerlamp

May 29th, 2009

These Hammerlamps, designed by Rupert Kopp, are CNC milled from solid aluminium. I’m quite curious to see them next week at SUN DAYS during DMY Berlin, I have no idea how big or small they actually are.

Dekochari is typical Japanese phenomenon, deko is short for decoration and chari is slang for bike. Dekochari are actually the kids version of dekotora, which are decorated trucks. Satoshi Minakawa made these photos of these awesome vehicles.

BLUR Collection by Big-Game

May 12th, 2009

The “BLUR Collection” by Big-Game is one of the better design projects I’ve seen lately. The vases are so high that the flowers disappear almost completely into them, only their colored shadow appear through the frosted glass. The tables and mirrors are silkscreened with a gradient. Your reflection disappears towards to bottom of the mirror. The tables look like they are up in the clouds. Nice work!
