Nike is re-releasing some of it classics from the 70′s. The LD-1000, the Daybreak, the Nylon Cortez … they all look like they are over 30 years old. Nike did an amazing job on making this sneakers look vintage. You can have a look at them on the Nike Vintage Running website, which looks like a 70′s running magazine. Or buy them in Berlin at Nort or Solebox.
You may have noticed that I’m a huge fan of Nike+. Today, I finally reached the 1000 km mark on Nike+! After 130 runs and 86 hours, Nike+ congratulated me right away after logging my 7,5 km from this morning. “You’re definitely bona fide now. You’re joining the ranks of the most dedicated amongst us, and it’s truly a feat to share. You’ve got our most humble congrats.” Thank you Nike+. There’s now even a button called ‘brag‘ in the ‘my records’ panel.
This calls for a party! What about tonight at the Belgian embassy in Berlin? O, there’s already a party planned, today is the Flemish Community’s official holiday. We once won a battle, The Battle of the Golden Spurs … They better have some fries at the embassy, I don’t mean those toothpicks coming from those we defeated 705 years ago.
Gui Borchert is an associate creative director at R/GA, the online agency that is responsible for most of Nike’s websites. You can find almost every design for Nike in his portfolio. One of them is a series of concept boards and alternate directions for the Nike+ website. It’s very interesting to see how the different ideas developed to what the current website looks like. I hope that Nike will relaunch its running websites soon as one and use the screen real estate a little better than as they do now.
Here are 2 mock-up’s for the Nike+ website.
