The Lo Res Project by United Nude, is an innovative design method using computer software to automatically create design options to choose from. By lowering the resolution of 3D models of products, the object becomes more and more fragmented, changing its character in the process. They’ve used this technique on a Lamborghini Countach and the result is quite nice. The United Nude Lo Res Shoe is the first product available at the United Nude stores.
Here Comes Santa / Bells are 2 video pieces by Sylvie Fleury. In Here Comes Santa a woman, wearing high heels, destroys Christmas baubles on a red carpet. Exactly the same happens in Bells except that it’s on a green carpet. Unfortunately these videos aren’t available online, except a very short excerpt of Bells. You’ll have to click on it to play it.

The Invisible Shoe is one of the 5 different shoe concepts by the Brazilian footwear designer Andreia Chaves. It would fit perfectly with the polygon fashion of Irina Shaposhnikova. You can see the 4 other concepts at Yatzer.

Rotational Moulding is an industrial production technique, used for creating many hollow plastic objects. Marloes ter Bhömer is a Dutch designer based in London, who took this technique to produce this shoe. I guess this is more some sort of conceptual exercise than a real product idea.
You can go and see this project, among many others, at the exhibition Brit Insurance Designs of the Year 2009 at the Design Museum in London till the 14th of June.
This video shows you how the Rotational Moulded Machine tumbles (without a mould though).
The new adidas SLVR line is finally available, judging for the pictures it looks very minimal. This sneaker called the SLVR 101 definitely looks quite different than any other one from adidas. The upper is made of only six pieces, they were stitched together instead of using glue. The upper is sewed to a one-piece outsole. By comparison, an average sneaker is build up from 25 to 30 pieces. The 7 pieces SLVR 101 fulfills the SLVR concept of “Reduced Complexity” perfectly. The SLVR 101 is also available in white.
It has been a while since I saw something fresh from Nike. It seems that they only do crazy colorways or fake vintage these days … So here comes the Nike City Knife II: a foldable lightweight shoe. Kirsten Schambra who is responsible for the design, was inspired by origami structures. She taped a rough concept to a shoe last and developed it further from there. The concept is actually very simple, but I’m not sure if it will appeal to a wide audience. I like them, hey they are made of polygons!
Nike remixed & recut reinterprets sportswear for a generation of open-minded and unorthodox consumers. Rooted in authenticity but designed for a range of expressions, this footwear collection describes true style hybridization.
