Remember those x frames per second photo series in skateboard mags? I guess they still exist. Anyway, Tilles Singer used those to recreate the shots with paper and made stop motion scenes out of them. Pretty nice.

“Your Mercury Ocean” is the name of this skateboard designed by Olafur Eliasson. It another great collaboration between Mekanism and an artist or designer. Olafur is the first one who asked Mekanism to produce a 13-ply deck instead of a standard 7-ply. This extra thickness gave him the possibility to mill a 3d pattern on it. Afterward, the deck received a mirror coating.
I want this one, I need this one, it would fit perfect next too my John Maeda one.

Twitter SK8 was an interactive installation by Jodi during their WEBCRA.SH/2900 event. They build wireless SK8boards which were connected to a live Twitter account. The tweets are just awesome.

G33 CON is the title of the solo exhibition of Jodi, a collective of two internet artists. This online flyer caught my attention … “geek concept art”. Here are 2 projects which you can see at Project Gentili in Prato, Italy, till May 23rd.

Skateistan is Afghanistan’s first dedicated co-educational skateboarding school. The school will engage with the growing numbers of urbanised youth in Afghanistan through skateboarding and provide new opportunities in cross-cultural interaction and education. Students will be selected from a range of different cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Student capacity will be developed in skateboarding, skateboarding instruction, project management, life skills and English. Our aim is to develop a program that empowers youth to take leadership on issues important to them and build networks that will counter current ethnic barriers.
