The Swedish creative agency Acne, which is mostly known for its fashion brand, presented its first furniture collection during the Paris fashion week. The started off from a Swedish design classic by Carl Malmsten: the Nya Berlin (New Berlin) Sofa. He designed it for the Swedish consulate in Berlin and hasn’t been in production since 1949. Acne stretched, squashed and pulled the simplistic shape to create new sculptural forms. The designs are of course upholstered with denim which they bleached and hand-dyed. I’m curious to see them in real life.

This Sofa Dress concept by Studio MAEZM is definitely one of the better design projects I have seen lately.

“Ever Onwards” by Nina Saunders.

The Milan furniture fair previews are filling up my inbox. Once again, I won’t go, but maybe next year. Anyway, this sofa called Quilt by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec looks quite nice. Ofcourse it is almost impossible to beat their own Facett sofa collection.

This is a prototype of the Cloud sofa by Tokujin Yoshioka. It is made of paper, probably the same kind as these paper bags by Saskia Diez. Moroso will produce them later with different fabrics and other materials for daily use.
There are so many previews of the Milan furniture fair recently, I’m wondering if there is going any new product launch at all in Milan.

This is my new favorite sofa: the Seracs designed by Alfredo Häberli for the Danisch brand Fredericia Furniture. It is actually a modular sofa, he designed 5 different elements which you can mix and match like you wish. Alfredo Häberli also designed the Kvadrat textiles used to upholster the sofa modules. The chance that you’ll end up with an unique sofa is quite big.
Maybe I overexaggerated a little, the Facett sofa by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullec is still my No.1.

This couch is called “Spiesser-Sofa” and was designed by Hannes Grebin. It is part of his “Cosy Furniture” project where he redesigned the “German living room”.
