Gone Running

August 31st, 2007

gone_running.jpgNike Women has this little feature on their website: ‘Gone Running‘. It’s basically a clock that you can hang up, to let others know when you’ll be back from running. On the website you can drag the clock and see a tag line for every 15 minutes. The best one: ‘9:45 PM - The internet will be here when you get back. Promise’.
You can also get one in your snail mail … but I haven’t figured out how.

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 AMG

Mercedes-Benz 300SEL 6.8 AMG

I’m totally not a Mercedes guy, if I had to choose between a Mercedes and an other car, I would take the other car. Actually I’m more into Italian cars, I’m so easily to seduce with good looks, like an Alfa Romeo GTA or any other 60’s Alfa designed by Bertone
Anyway, I could make an exception for this 300SEL 6.3 tuned by AMG to an 6.8 motor. What a beast!
If you know some Italian, you can read some more on it here.

Nike Vintage Running

Nike is re-releasing some of it classics from the 70’s. The LD-1000, the Daybreak, the Nylon Cortez … they all look like they are over 30 years old. Nike did an amazing job on making this sneakers look vintage. You can have a look at them on the Nike Vintage Running website, which looks like a 70’s running magazine. Or buy them in Berlin at Nort or Solebox.

1000km

July 11th, 2007

1000km.jpgYou may have noticed that I’m a huge fan of Nike+. Today, I finally reached the 1000 km mark on Nike+! After 130 runs and 86 hours, Nike+ congratulated me right away after logging my 7,5 km from this morning. “You’re definitely bona fide now. You’re joining the ranks of the most dedicated amongst us, and it’s truly a feat to share. You’ve got our most humble congrats.” Thank you Nike+. There’s now even a button called ‘brag‘ in the ‘my records’ panel.
This calls for a party! What about tonight at the Belgian embassy in Berlin? O, there’s already a party planned, today is the Flemish Community’s official holiday. We once won a battle, The Battle of the Golden Spurs … They better have some fries at the embassy, I don’t mean those toothpicks coming from those we defeated 705 years ago.

Nike+ Widgets

June 11th, 2007

Nike+ keeps expanding it’s tools and services, so here are the widgets. You can now post your Nike+ data on every other site you want. You can pick a particular run or your fastest or longest or …
The only thing they still have to do is merging the Nike+ website with the Nike Running website.

Nike+ Addicted

April 24th, 2007

True dat, true dat. I enrolled myself for the Berlin Marathon 2007!
A nice TVC by Wieden + Kennedy Amsterdam.

3 days later

April 3rd, 2007

It has been 3 days now since the Berlin Half Marathon and I’m looking for a new goal. Should I try a full marathon right away or should I try to gain more speed and endurance first? Questions about questions …
Yesterday, a strange kind of muscle ache kicked in, one like I have never experienced before. I knew I should have done some cool down and stretching afterwards but I was too high … runner’s high. I’ll try to get rid of it tonight with a slow run, it’s really strange not having a training schedule anymore. Speaking of runner’s high, there are some parts of the half marathon where I only have vague memories, it’s really strange.
If Apple and Nike wouldn’t have teamed up together to create this whole Nikeplus system, I would still not be able to run a few kilometers. Actually my uncle, who is an experienced marathon runner, laughed at me when I told him I started running because of a gadget. Who cares, I enjoy it and will continue doing so.

Here are 2 more graphics from the Nikeplus website which show the work I did during the last weeks and months. Damn, I ran over 170 km in March!
