by Manolo is gonna have fun.
A coffee table that, while carrying out its regular function, allows one to jump up on top to do exercises or simply to have fun while eliminating daily stress. Objects are pushed to one side, and one jumps around as though on tampoline.

This coffee table (?) called “Pizzo Carrara” by Marcel Wanders is part of his “Personal Editions” collection. It’s a solid piece of Carrara marble with a sand blasted pattern. You can see the preview of his Salone del Mobile exhibit here.

These Rocks aren’t paperweights but coffee tables by Arik Levy. Apparently he’s quite good at designing coffee tables, I also liked his Folded one.

Did you ever wonder how designers and architects come up with those crazy shapes? Well, here is the answer: they script them! Yeah it’s just some math and formulas fed to 3D software like Rhinoceros. So now you know why you pay that much …
Ok, that’s a little exaggerated, but still.
This coffee table called “Polytop” by Marc Fornes is a perfect example. Every table is unique, which is easily accomplished with scripting and modern production techniques like CNC.

Moritz Waldemeyer is some sort of artist-technologist-… his works are just amazing. Here some of my favorites:

This Pong Table has 2500 integrated LED’s and 2 touch pads to recreate the classic Pong game. When switched off it’s just a table. The Roulette Table is similar but works together with the lamp.

He also helped out Ron Arad with his ‘Miss Haze’ for Swarovski.

Last but not least, he added the electronics to the 6 transforming dresses in Hussein Chalayan’s spring/summer 2007 collection.
