Uniqlo is one of those brands who always have top notch online specials. Uniqlo March is their latest campaign for their shirts collection. You can see 33 models on a never-ending march. Each meter the models march virtually during a visit on the website, is added to a counter. You can zoom in and out, adjust the speed, make them do things. Of course you can also see the products and buy them. If you want you can also join the march as a model. But if you’re not in Japan, you might join the virtual Tokyo March with Google Maps. This website shows you all the features of the website and gives you some more background information.
It is probably no suprise that I mention the new adidas Y-3 Spring / Summer 2009 campaign. The adidas Y-3 website is one of the few websites out there, where you can expect a very nice relaunch twice a year. It’s a fashion brand after all.
They have choosen to use the surveillance cameras kind of look for the website and the campaign video. If you are a regular here, you’ll have noticed that digital glitches are my thing. The Y-3 products are still quite different than the new adidas SLVR collection, they are more true fashion. I’m not a expert, but some of the women’s footwear designs look quite fresh.
But be warned, the website is quite heavy and will take some time to load.
“The Zodiac Race” is an animated film which is a part of the “Cycle of Life” campaign for Onitsuka Tiger‘s 60th birthday. It tells the legend of the Zodiac Race: 13 animals raced each other for one of the 12 spots in the Zodiac calender. The race takes place on an island shaped like an Onitsuka Tiger sneaker, which features many Japanese landmarks. The landscape doesn’t just exist as a 3D world, it is actually based on a real 1 meter big model. The excellent animation work was done by PandaPanther, the campaign was developed by Amsterdam Worldwide.
It’s been a while since I posted a website, but Caio Lazzuri from Goodby, Silverstein & Partners San Fancisco pointed me to their Plug Into the Smart Grid website. It is a campaign website for General Electric Smart Gird, it’s all about energy management. The 3D infographics are just stunning!
But the bonus is the augmented reality feature. Ok, it’s just a visual gimmick, but it’s one of best online implementations I have seen till now. You can choose between 3D wind turbines and 3D solar panels. A 3D scenery expands in your hands and is completely animated. It’s nice to see this technology in a corporate website without any weird plugins besides the Flash Player.
They’ve used the opensource Flash library FLARToolKit, which really deserve its credit.
The Unloader is quite a funny website. You can upload one of your local boring documents and pick one of the three ways how you want it to be destroyed. After receiving the file, you can really see how your document comes out of the printer. Unfortunately you won’t see the actual destruction of your document, but a pre produced video which is still impressive.
This campaign website for some Nokia mobile phones, was made by Farfar and Perfect Fools.
This Is Sand is a website where you can drop digital sand. You can pick any color and when you’re finished you can submit your drawing to the gallery. That’s where you can see amazing images like this one of Chairman Mao Ze Dong.
I’ve been following the development of FLARToolKit for some time now and it’s getting more interesting day by day. What it is? FLARToolKit is a Flash Actionscript port of ARToolKit, a software library for building Augmented Reality applications. Huh? Maybe you’ve seen some really cool Augmented Reality videos before. The FLARToolKit will bring all of this to your webbrowser when you have a webcam and a recent Flash Player.
This is one of the most exciting Flash things I’ve seen for a while now. Saqoosha, a Japanese Flash developer, made this little demo: Desktop Fireworks. You will need a the Flash Player 9, a webcam and you’ll need to print out this marker. I’ve already did some tests together with Papervision3D and I can say we’ll probably see more of this soon. This is Flash at it’s best baby!
Yosuke Abe is an Art Director at tha ltd., a Japanese web design agency. He is one of the creators of FFFFOUND!, one of my favorite websites. I’ve featured almost every project by tha ltd., I guess I’m a true fan of their work. They did the Design and the Elastic Mind website, they made that lush screensaver called Dropclock, that funny Softbank website and the multi user UNIQLO Grid.
Back to Yosuke, he did some nice projects himself too. Here are 2 which I really like.
‘JOCATORE / ALLENATORE‘, you can switch the focus of the video between the ball and the window.
The second project is called ‘Family Affair‘, a very funny video about the Jackson family.
